Cat6 cables are an advanced generation of copper Ethernet cables designed to support high speeds and wide bandwidth in local area networks (LANs). These cables consist of four twisted pairs of wires and offer bandwidth up to 250 MHz, enabling data transfer rates of 1 Gbps up to 100 meters and even 10 Gbps over shorter distances (up to 55 meters).
Cat6 cables will continue to be the cost/performance optimal solution for many office and enterprise environments. Although newer technologies such as Cat6a and Cat7 have been developed for specific applications, Cat6 offers a good balance between performance, cost, and ease of installation.
